Staying Safe

The most common menace, especially in large cities (particularly Rome), is the plague of pickpockets and roving gangs of gipsy children who virtually surround you, distract you, and in the confusion try to steal your purse or wallet. Never leave valuables in a car, and never travel with your car unlocked. In these uncertain times, it is always prudent to check the U.S. State Department's travel advisories at http://travel.state.gov/travel/warnings.html.(Source: frommers.com)
Remember also that no Policeman or Carabiniere or Financial Guard  or Council Policeman has the right to asking you to show him your money. This is an uncommon hoax made by robbers with fake italian police shields. Please be carefull if you find yourself in this trouble.
Anyway, Rome is a Safe City like any other Capitol of Europe, so don't be afraid of it  but enjoy your Roman Holiday.
